Radio tracking turtles in marsh below bridge construction

During the construction of the I-355 extension, we monitored the Blanding’s Turtle populations in the area and responded to calls to relocate turtles that ventured too close to the construction.

– We captured turtles
– Affixed radio-transmitters to 24 turtles
– Tracked daily spring through fall
– 2785 radio-locations
– Turtles moved often
– No quality nesting habitat
– No turtles died during construction
